A meteorologist at the Icelandic Meterologist Office states that Iceland has very fortunate weather patterns surrounding the country. Low-pressure areas are unable to make their usual journeys across Iceland. A high-pressure area by Norway is keeping lows away from Iceland and moving warm air from Europe to Iceland. Another low is stuck by the southernmost point of Greenland and it moves southern- and southeastern winds across Iceland. While the high by Norway remains in place ICelanders will continue to enjoy this mild weather. Forecasts estimate this will continue for at least another week before cold air will reach Iceland again. According to the Icelandic Meterologist Office these kind of situations come up now and again during the winter. „Best to enjoy them while they're there.“ Photographer Gunnar V.
