The set designer Börkur Jónsson has been nominated for the Evening Standard Theatre Awards in London for the set of Metamorphosis. Kafka's Metamorphosis is being staged at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre in London to a full house. The production's director is Gísli Örn Garðarsson who also plays the lead; Nína Dögg Filippusdóttir and Ingvar Sigurðsson also act in Metamorphosis. The success story of Icelandic theatre people in London continues to grow.

The Evening Standard Awards will be given on November 26th. „Of course it is always good to get such a recognition," said Börkur when Fréttablaðið newspaper got a hold on him. „I received the notification in email and I have to look into it, I still don't know who the other nominees are," explained the set designer, who is now working with the Student Theatre Group on the set design of a production that will be staged at the Reykjavik City Theatre on 24th of November.

The Evening Standard Awards were founded in 1982 and a number of star actors have received them, for example Sir Ian McKellan, Ian Holm and the American actor Kevin Spacey. To be nominated is a great recognition in the London theatre world.
