Back Safe and Sound

The families of the two families who finally made it out of Beirut greeted them with open arms when they landed at Keflavík airport last night. The journey back from Lebanon had been long and strenuous and they were teary eyed at their return. Sigríður Snævarr, head of the Foreign Ministry received the group on behalf of the Icelandic government, who sent a plane to Damascus, Syria to retrieve the families. From there they flew to Copenhagen and back to Iceland.
